Creative Vision
Spend afternoons exploring gushing waterfalls, abundant flowers, and profligate Costa Rican sunsets with or without your camera or quietly writing in a hammock beneath banana trees with howler monkeys overhead. Each day of this retreat will offer you time to tap into the beauty of this abundant place as you gather its special energy to return to your life and work renewed, restored, and deeply inspired.
Surf Instruction
Surfing can sound intimidating. While it is deliciously challenging, Playa Guiones is an ideal beginners’ surf break. You will be able to choose when and how far out you go into the surf. Whether you’ve never touched a board before in your life or you’re comfortable hanging ten, the friendly, expert surf instructors at Safari Surf teach, coach, and guide you in the warm waves. Surfing is a powerful way to engage with the ocean as a teacher and muse but it’s also an ideal path for exploring, identifying, and enhancing your own creativity and resilience.
Community
Picture the joy of childhood. The delight of trying something completely new with no worries about evaluation or performance. Learning to surf with others can offer you that opportunity right now. Add in the distinctive adult pleasures of sipping wine together under gorgeous Costa Rican sunsets, daily yoga, and shared meals featuring local seafood and abundant tropical fruit and you’ve got a nuanced recipe for making new friends and jump-starting your own transformative vision for your life, work, and family.

Our home away from home will be Casa Sonita. As close to the beach as you can get in this protected area, we’ll be just steps from the waves, sunsets, and sand of Playa Guiones. This well comfortable home has more than we’ll need to relax, rejuvenate, and build our small community.
